Winchester (nw) VA
The storm finally quit raining about 5am Tue, bringing the 1 1/2 day
storm total to 1.44".
Although some forecasts promised us here in the "western areas" of the
Washington DC tv market, none was noted. In fact the cloud cover broke
only enough for these bright spots, & that was it. The clear sky reached
here at 11pm Tue.

With a solid overcast, temperatures only reached 53, 20 degrees below
normal, and more typical for Thanksgiving. It was the coldest for the
daytime high on the date
(back 52 years).
Temperatures are forecast to fall to near 40 this am, so i would not be
surprised to hear of frost reports in rural areas; (it was 46 here in
town at 2:45am). More widespread frosts are likely within a few days; (&
1 of TWC's forecasts for here are calling for a low of 30) Fri am.
For those who wondering about abbreviations used in NWS & other forecast
discussions, i found this site that might be helpful. It was last
updated about a year ago.

And meteorologist Bob Ryan (for NBC4 in Washington DC) reports his house
is without heat tonight. Seems he chose the normally mild late Sept to
have the furnace replaced.
