Note that eGroups was down between 11pm Monday & 11am Tuesday. Most of
the mail sent in that window was processed, but the processing the
backlog of mail will take time. Eventually eGroups mail service should
return to normal. I tried retrieving the urls from Mondays photos
without success until 1am Wed.

Winchester (nw) VA
Hello everyone,
Sunday night about 10:30pm a single thunderstorm formed near
Charlottesville VA, and within 45 minutes a 50 mile line of
thunderstorms formed along the east face of the Blue Ridge Mnts. These
storms trekked slowly ENE through the cities of Washington DC, Baltimore
MD, & Philadelphia PA before dissipating around dawn. Those in the
direct path probably lost sleep because of the non stop thunder &
lightning. But those not under the storm had a treat, if they were up. I
watched lightning in 3 thunderheads, and the show here lasted 90
minutes.
Lightning in this frame is about 25 miles away, but as you can tell, the
tree line in my yard obstructs a good view.

This thunderhead is about 12 miles north and it's storm is only about 20
minutes old. It produced an average storm in the northern reaches of my
county about 5:45pm Monday.

And the final still of Monday's series: Lightning flash over Clarke Co
VA, as the rainbow is at its peak. The Mon. storms brought .70", about
1/2" in 20 minutes. The storms caused widespread tree & power line
damage in central Clarke Co (about 10 miles to my east)- according to
scanner traffic & the NWS sdr.

Mondays high was again 90 (as Sunday's was too), w/ the heat index of
96. Dawn low was 69.
A few glimpses of sun Tue, otherwise a "flat sky" that produced no
thunderstorms within 40 miles of my location. Showers fell over the WV
panhandle, 30 miles north, & severe thunderstorms as close as 50 miles
SE of me. A few sprinkles [a trace] fell about 5pm. A 3am low of 71, a
1pm high of 82. [I had a photo, but it has yet to make the message board
at weather pix. I sent it 90 minutes ago. Oh well]
