We had another hot dry day here in central Florida. Here in Plant
City the high temp. reached 92 deg. and the low temp. 59 deg. The
minimum R.H. today was 20%.
A local spring stopped running yesterday for the first time in 175
years, amazing. Also a couple of weeks ago my well had to be worked on
due to a dropping water table.
Yesterday in the historical Ybor City section of Tampa a big fire
broke out and wiped out two square blocks of city.
I read some info on global warming that said that not only are
temperatures not rising at the rate expected, they have actually fallen
globally between 1979 and 1999.
1997 was not the hottest year of the decade, it was the
seventh coolest in the past 20 years.
Land based weather observing stations give a false
reading of global warming due to urban heat island effects, poor
instrument calibration, poor observing site maintenance, decreased
observer training and the fact that the observing network only covers a
fraction of the globe.
Satellite temperature monitoring which covers 100% of
the globe, shows a decrease of 0.5 degrees celsius in the past 20 years.
