Here is an e-mail I received about hurricane Names research over the
years, I think you all will want to get in on this

Gary Padgett <garyp{at}ALAWEB.COM> Subject: =A0=A0 Hurricane Names
Last week I had a request from a student at the University of Tennessee
wanting to know if I could point him to a source of all the hurricane
names that were not used from 1953-1978; i.e., the entire roster for
each season whether assigned to a storm or not.
I had all that information in various places, and since I had a little
time on my hands, typed it all up and compiled it. =A0 I also included
the old World War II phonetic alphabet which was used from 1950 through
1952, as well as the original sets for 1979 and 1980 which were never
used as the new male/female sets were initiated in 1979.
If anyone is interested in this bit of Atlantic hurricane history
trivia, if they will e-mail me a request I'll send the lists to them.
=A0 I'll wait a few days and collect names and just make one mailing.
As far as names which have actually been assigned to storms, several
years ago I compiled a list of all actual named tropical cyclones for
the Atlantic and Eastern Pacific, identifying all years in which a given
name was assigned. =A0 =A0 =A0 =A0 Eric Blake has placed these
compilations on his excellent Atlantic Tropical Weather Center:

EASTPAC: <http://www.atwc.org/pachis.txt>
