I was going to school at UNCA (about 30 miles away) at the time. We received rain and snow at school, I remember walking through falling snow to my final exams. That low just sit and spun over the area for several days. I was working at NCDC at the time and my boss Grant Goodge had some amazing photographs from the event. Intellicast says: "In 1992, a vigorous upper level low pressure system stalled over the western Carolinas for 3 days from the 5th to the 8th dropping 60 inches of snow at Mt. Pisgah. Mind you, the elevation there is 300 feet and there was probably less than 25 inches of snow that fell this winter, along with many days of +15 degrees above normal!!! Given the mild and snowless winter, you can bet I was very surprised to still see snow on thr ground there! --
