Final Storm Reports From CASI Members:
Me - Ended up with about 1" of frozen precip, about half snow and
sleet. Temp exploded from 15 last night to 33 currently. Roads are
clear and except for yesterday evening roadwise I can't say that this
was a very bad storm for anybody here. We never received any of the
heavy ice accumulation that the media warned us of.

Sleet/Freezing Rain in VA

Here around Roanoke, VA, we have finally changed over to freezing
rain...this after over 8 hours of sleet. As of around 1am, we have about
3.5 inches of PURE SLEET on the ground, roads, and everything else.
Warmer
air is finally making it's way in a little better aloft, and this has
now
turned us over to freezing rain. The temperature today was around 29
after
midnight yesterday, and actually dropped to 22 this evening. It's now
back
up to 30.
As if the sleet weren't enough, it looks like we'll have a few hours of
MODERATE to HEAVY freezing rain. It all depends on how much more the
temps
warm up...we are in a protected valley so they may not. Either way,
looking at the radar, there's heavy precip starting to move in. Could be
some serious glazing here by dawn. We're preparing for possible power
outages late tonight and early tom. morning.
