If you hadn't already heard about this it is something to behold. Apparently
some very heavy convective showers have been occurring on the Gulf Coast.
Yesterday I saw a 20" report off the coast of SE TX on the KHOU yesterday and
thought it might be an anomaly - but I guess not! Today's radar estimates
(which are normally somewhat inaccurate for heavy precip) from MIA and MLB
indicate about 12" in the area in question. Below are details from John
Benjamin. Below that are storm reports from Member Don Arnold in Pascagoula
MS, who had quite an exciting night last night, and Tom Myers report from
Western NC. Following that is a report from Member Joey Ketcham in KS.
Currently here at CASI HQ we have snow and 13. Accumulation so far on roads
and structures but the snowflakes are small so there hasn't been much
accumulation on grass yet. The low this morning was 6. Keep an eye on the cam
throughout this storm.

Its 6:08 here in Mississippi and we have a Tornado watch till 9 am
i think it will be extended, the rain started about an hour ago
and radar show main front coming thru BATON ROUGUE
now, been a couple tornado warnings for LA already this morning
and i will try to keep forwarding significant changes and instances of
weather
thruought the day, have been in touch with the Skywarn people here and
we going to go on standby about 9 am and track this baby, weather
service in mobile, with whom i have been in contact still keeps
referring to this as a
very deadly storm with all the potentional of being a killer storm
I know whats happening to the north i hope it does not get that bad here
------
Hi all
Well survivied another one i think
Fron went through like a freight train
power knocked out for about 30 minutes
tornadoes all over the place except right where i am at
recieved about 1.50 inches of rain in a little over an hour
pressure down to 29.60 and still dropping
temp down to 56 and still dropping
but just rain now and light wind..did record a 40+ gust at hieght of
storm
minimal lighting but what was seen was felt as evidenced by down power
i have reports from my SKYWARN friends of trees down and a couple barns
in the rual areas damage but no damage in PASCAGOULA
that i am aware of
this will be final report except for a storm rain total when the rain
ends tonight or on the morrow

========================
Locally here in Central NC (Rowan Co) we are under a Winter Storm Warning
with serious icing conditions expected later today and tonight. Just south
of me from Cabarrus Co (Concord) southward into the Charlotte metro area
there is a Winter Weather Advisory out for ice/sleet changing to rain after
dusk with rising temperatures.
At 10 am, I have a temperature of 28 degrees (down from 30 at 7 am);
sustained winds of 14 mph from the Northeast with gusts to 25 mph. The
dewpoint has fallen from 21 degrees at 7 am to a present reading of 14
degrees which will allow for the temperature to fall further with the onset
of precipitation due to evaporational cooling. The barometer is still high
at 30.36". All the radars within 150 miles of the area are showing very
little in the way of precip but local radar out of Charlotte has shown an
area of expanding light precipitation over the Foothills and Western
Piedmont of NC over the last 1/2 hour. I will pass along any further weather
developments out of West Central North Carolina as things begin to develop.
Take care!!!

Well, looks to be getting worse here in Ks/Mo. as it turns from rain to 100%
sleet. Power transformer has gone out all across town here in Pittsburg
Kansas and the worst is still to come. As of right a main gas pipe has
broken near Arma Ks which may lead to evacuation in some areas until it is
fixed.
Trees has falled down due to the weight of ice and as of right now there are
about 3 Firetrucks down the street from me. Worse yet, wind has picked up
to 15 MPH which is another threat to power lines causing them to go down.
I will provide you with more info as time goes by.
Joey
