You will receive this type of message a couple of times per year. TO: CASI ADMIN, CASILIST, NON-CASILIST Members SUBJECT: New Website Date: 12/13/98 I am proud to announce the relaunching of the Central Atlantic Storm Investigators Website this evening with a new design that I have been working on for some time. After 2 years, the old, lame front page is gone and replaced with an interactive, dynamic page detailing current and forecast Severe and Extreme weather. Please take a look. http://www.weatherwatchers.org/ Several old sections have been deleted, temporarily, until I can figure out whether I want to kill them permanently or not. Several new sections have been created: Weather Observations - Your Obs and Obs on the Net Climate Data - Your Climate Data and Climate Data on the Net Weird Weather - Coldest, Hottest, Aliens, North Pole, you name it. Internet Education - Section not started yet, subjects can be seen from the home page. Divisions - CASI Geographical Divisions and Directors - North, South, etc. News - From CASI, World Weather News, and NetNews US & World Severe and Extreme Weather - Current Stats and Internet Links CASICAM - Page completely redesigned, have a look *Not all the sections have been completed but all besides the Internet section are partially complete. Most pages inside the site, other than the new sections, have not been redesigned yet and will be done piecemeal as I update them in the future. I have far exceeded my original deadline for launching this site so I wanted to go ahead and launch it tonight. I will probably hold off on announcing the new page to the public through Internet Newsgroups and Mailing Lists until early January when more of the content will be complete, Universities will be back in session and people will be back at their home computers. I NEED YOUR HELP: Here's how you can pitch in and help with the new site. 1. First and foremost, let me know if you receive any errors or see any typos on the new site. NOTE: I am aware that the links page (/education/web.html) needs a lot of work, so don't report errors there. ;) 2. If any of you have your personal weather observations that are currently on a website please let me know (see the new Observations page for more info and examples). 3. If any of you post obs to the PSU User Observations Database please send me the location of the city you post to (preferably the URL's like the ones on the new CASI Observations page) 3. If any of you have Climate (monthly summaries etc.) Data on your website or another website please let me know so I can link to it. Very soon I will also have set up an area at which you can submit your Climate Data to the CASI site but this is not complete yet. (see the new Observations page for more info and examples). 4. If you have any other suggestions about the new Site's design and organization please let me know. Thank you for taking a look at the new site which is here to serve CASI and the Internet. If you have any questions let me know. -- ============================================================== Jesse Ferrell - Meteorologist/Web Dev. - j{at}weatherwatchers.org Central Atlantic Storm Investigators - www.weatherwatchers.org "Dust will make you blind, nothing you can find; Running scared !
