Folks, I think the orginal post was sent by mistake... so I have to apologize for the non-weather content, I know your bandwidth is important to you. However, that said, here is an important reply: From: Bud Younke <byounke{at}clntraining.com> To: "'casilist{at}weatherwatchers.org'" <casilist{at}weatherwatchers.org> In the latest Info World ( I think it was info world, could be one of the other weekly tabloid size trade rags <G>) there is a write up on the new Office 2000 registration wizard. Ostensibly the MS line is that this is to make registration easier for users so they can take full advantage of upgrades ( read: This is another product that will be rushed out the door riddled with funky little bugs that will require multiple patches to fix ). The crux of the wizard is this.. the 51st time you start office 200 it will refuse to fire unless you have registered with MS. Mt read on this ( I may be wrong ) is that it will try to enforce an on-line registration. ( Hey Redmond wake up! some people are still not connected!!) Now while I don't object to registering software, I do object to allowing MS or anyone else to access my drive on-line. Not sure if this procedure will allow mail in registrations or not, but seems to be a bit self defeating if it does... Anyway just thought I'd pass this additional info along to the group..
