Sept 7 1998 -
Good Evening all...
As some of you (that are on the 'pseudo-office weather list?') know...
I was away from the 'main' computer much of the time during todays'
outbreak. Did what we could. The Wx station I was able to restore
after a power outage, the cam was out fo about 3 hours -
NBC & CBS both reporting 4 tornadoes in the NE corridor - One in
CT - One in Rahway, NJ - and two on LI (Manhasset area & Bethpage).
As of this hour, they are all unconfirmed. What we do know is
the path - Which eviditally originated to the West of here, no doubt
came over here (at Dingmans Ferry), followed a line south thru New
Jersey,
into Manhattan (where, amongst other things, a scaffolding collapsed),
and
east out to LI's Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
For those that don't get them, the last 3 SPC & NWS reports
follow (There were 24 on the computer at last count)
Think we managed, to keep the community active (once we heard about,
then
saw HAIL)
, despite the fact that I was in the 'wrong place at the wrong time' -
No real significant damage here in Pike, but It was definately
something to watch go by on Route 739.....
