I always hesitate to send out sites under the NetNews heading that aren't *really* news, that is to say they didn't come into being in the last couple of weeks. But these two are *fairly* recent additions and I find them very exciting and useful resources as a meteorologist and weather geek. For that reason I believe they may be of interest to y'all as well. They are: NASA Real-Time Satellite Page - http://weather.msfc.nasa.gov/GOES/ You want satellite data? You've got it here! You can zoom into any region of the image and have a larger resolution image drawn for you, with the option of an animation of up to 20 frames (requires Java). They have: GOES8 North America: 8KM/1KM Vis, IR, Enhanced IR, WV GOES8,GOES10: 32KM/4KM Vis, IR, Enhanced IR, WV World: 56KM/14KM IR NCAR/RAP's NEXRAD Data Archives Viewer http://www.rap.ucar.edu/staff/pneilley/NIDS_archives.html This is the only archive of all regions and many single sites that I know of on the Internet. NCDC has a long-range archive of US only imagery, but here at UCAR they currently have 20 single sites, with perhaps up to 120 soon, they say, as well as US and Regional composites. Reflectivity or Velocity data, every 5/6/10 minutes, or regional Reflectivity. Every image from 48 hours past to 11 days out. Pick from a variety of starting times, loop lengths, and image frequencies. Javascript required. -- ============================================================== Jesse Ferrell - Meteorologist/Web Dev. - j{at}weatherwatchers.org Central Atlantic Storm Investigators - www.weatherwatchers.org "They're not who we're looking for; they're just meteorologists- storm chasers." --Peter Watts, "Millennium" || ICQ No. 136832 ||
