CASILIST : Words from the Members, Surface Observations Map Online

Hurricane Bonnie continues to track towards eastern NC. CASI Members in
this area should be prepared to take cover if necessary, and document
the storm as it comes through.
I have placed online a very sloppy took-me-one-hour-to-do map of the
Carolinas online, in a similary format to the other interactive map that
I placed online Sunday.
Carolina Coastal Surface Observations:
http://www.weatherwatchers.org/tropical/surface/carolinacoast
It now includes webcams (blue circles). There weren't many that
qualified as genuine weather cams which actually worked ;)
If you know of any more cams on the coast there let me know although I
will probably not be able to update the page before Bonnie hits I will
update it eventually...
Also if there are any major problems with the page let me know and I'll
update it later today
MY PLANS: To monitor the storm more efficiently (hello 4GB/400Mhz/T-1) I
am probably going to go to work very early tomorrow, maybe 3am. Get a
couple hours sleep. I will attempt to carry the CASILIST database with
me so that I can post from there, however it might not work and I might
have to come back home around 6 or so to post. If you need to reach me
from 3am to 3pm tomorrow you can call 814/235/8794 or email me at
j{at}weatherwatchers.org
And of course to make the situation more frenetic I have the first
Severe Thunderstorm in two months bearing down on me as we speak ;)

Member Comments on the Storm:
>From Ken Thrasher:
Here in Myrtle Beach at 8p.m., there is an overcast and light winds.
Expecting the conditions to worsen as the night progresses. I am 7
miles
southwest of the pavilion area in Socastee.

>From Charlie A.:
To the same bunch as the earlier one (after a little sleep)
So I didn't use the spell-checker (after driving 3 hours and
saying to myself...shoulda stayed 1 more day)
At least this is one area where I pride myself
at (unfortunately) being right?
Charlie's official amateur prognostication for Bonn:
Will hit the Jet sometime overnight, stregthening somewhat
to poss. Cat 4 intensity. West side following the shoreline
NNE, weakening back to Cat 3 while making this slow turn,
a pass over the East End of Long Island NY, Connecticut.....
We'll see
(It's cheaper than playing the stock market)
The best part of this Hurricane was watching the look
on John Hope's face Monday - "We just don't know" - Over
2 days almost stationary....Like I said earlier, the sea was
truly a site to behold!
This Internet Cam is located about
1/2 mile south of where the 23-year old
unfortunately was caught in the New Jersey Riptide.
It's dark at night but should have
a good view of the 'wave activity'
in the morning.
