At this time the NHC's forecast shows the storm pointing towards Charleston SC at the end of the forecast period, 72 hours. AccuWeather shows the storm pointing at Wilmington NC. Neither predicts what it will do after that point, that point being where the storm is 100 to 300 miles offshore. The WeatherUnderground has the storm coming ashore in Wilmington NC. These are a few of the predictions. But, the weather forecast models took yet another turn last night and are now mostly predicting the storm to scrape the shore, enough to bring some Tropical Storm force winds to NC, but to not come on shore. Its closest pass or landfall will likely be late Wed. or Thur, maybe even later if it doesn't get going - moving at 5mph this morning. So once again - no one knows. Except that we do not that it's not definite that it will miss us - so keep an eye on it. I'll be sending a more comprehensive report when I get home from work today along with the 5pm update. Bonnie's winds have not increased in the past 18 hours and her pressure is rising. The eyewall has even disappeared temporarily. This could be partially due to the fact that she has cooled the water underneath her by blocking the sunlight and even upwelling cooler waters. If she gets moving again then there might be a chance for a little more strengthening. http://www.weatherwatchers.org/tropical/ -- ============================================================== Jesse Ferrell - Meteorologist/Web Dev. - j{at}weatherwatchers.org Central Atlantic Storm Investigators - www.weatherwatchers.org "They're not who we're looking for; they're just meteorologists- storm chasers." --Peter Watts, "Millennium" || ICQ No. 136832 ||
