Here are some quotes from an interview I had with the High Point (NC)
Enterprise newspaper about this year's storm damage and CASI in
general. If any of you guys have been quoted in the press recently
please let me know; I can pass it on to the CASILIST and might put it on
the website too.

"Meteorologist Jesse Ferrell, president of the Central Atlantic Storm
Investigators, said he thought the Southeast had seen more storms than
usual this spring and early summer.
CASI is a group of almost 300 amateur and professional weather observers
from all over the world that communicate mostly through the Internet.
'I think that that is due in part to eh El Nino event,' he said. 'Most
agree it was the strongest one we've seen so far.'
...
He added that a cooling of the waters in the Pacific Ocean, La Nina, is
taking place.
While the effects are hard to pinpoint, he estimated that the Southeast
will probably not be as active storm-wise next year."
