TO: CASI ADMIN NON-MAILING LIST MEMBERS CASILIST MEMBERS RE: POSSIBLE UPCOMING CASI MEETINGS JUN 10, 1998 I would like to think about having a couple of informal get-togethers of the CASI Members, ("in real life" for you computer people). These would occur in two different meetings - a CASI South Meeting and a CASI North Meeting, to enable Members from all up and down the east coast to consider attending. CASI North Meeting: This meeting would be for members from the Northern CASI area and will be held here at HQ in State College PA. This will be later this summer and more details will follow. CASI South Meeting: I will be vacationing in the Carolinas at the end of the month, and although my schedule is very tight, I will have Sunday June 28, 1998 open for a meeting of the CASI South Members if I get enough response and we can find somewhere to hold it. Now of course I wish that I had a week to come by and visit all of you but unfortunately this is my only vacation this year and it's packed with a lot of time with the folks and some other errands I have to run on my down-south tour. (FYI, I will be in Asheville NC on Saturday but will be at a UNCA Meteorology Dept. Alumni get-together all day). I envision a meeting similar to last years at Cliff's house (www.weatherwatchers.org/members/419/) where we get together, come-as-you-are, bring your interesting photos or videos of events that you have recorded during the past. There's not going to be a lot of red-tape and organization mumbo-jumbo here - this will be a time for us to share stories and observations on the last year's weather. This will be a chance for you to put faces to e-mail addresses as many of us meet face-to-face for the first time. I would like the meeting to occur somewhere in the Carolinas since this is where the largest percentage of our Members are, preferably within 6 hours of where I will be staying with my parents in Wilkes County NC or I won't be able to drive to it and have a reasonable amount of time to spend there. ;) If any of you have a suggestion on where we could have this meeting please let me know as the only thing left to decide is the place. It should be able to hold at least 10 people (maybe a lot more) and needs a VCR and decent TV. Food preparation facilities are optional but desired as we may cook out like last year or at the very least order some pizza or something. Once we figure out where to have it we can work out food arrangements. Same for time although you can assume it would be approximately 1 to 6pm. Although this meeting is for CASI Members, guests are always welcome. Of course I wouldn't bring a whole group of people without clearing it with me and the host since room may be limited. If you think that you would want to attend a CASI Meeting in the Carolinas on Sunday June 28, 1998, please reply to this message with whether you would DEFINITELY come or you MIGHT like to attend, that way I can get a preliminary head count. Thanks and I look forward to seeing you in person! -- ============================================================== Jesse Ferrell - Meteorologist/Web Dev. - j{at}weatherwatchers.org Central Atlantic Storm Investigators - www.weatherwatchers.org "And here a twister comes... here comes the twister." --Talking Heads || ICQ No. 136862 ||
