Many tornadoes have occurred over NC this evening. The Weather Channel reported a tornado at 3100 Peters Creek Parkway in Winston-Salem NC at 7pm, as I recall that's near the Hanes Mall. Been there many times. More info follows from Tom Myers: -- Subject: Date: Thu, 7 May 1998 19:15:30 -0400 From: skywatch{at}cbiinternet.com (Tom Myers) Hi everyone, Just a note that numerous tornadoes have touched down and are continuing over the Foothills and Western Piedmont of NC. There have been so many tornado touchdowns and warnings that the local TV stations can't keep up. All tornado damage appears to be slight to moderate with only what looks like F1-F2 tornadoes but its way too early to really say. Alot of trees down and roofs blown off homes. Have not heard of any injuries but several mobile home parks have been hit pretty hard. Caldwell, Alexander, Iredell, Davie, Forsyth, Lincoln, Catawba and Davidson Counties have all reported damage and tornado tochdowns. Rowan County, which is where I live, has now been issued a tornado warning with a tornado reported on the ground in the NW part of the county. I will be in touch later. The TV now says that there has been reports of severe damage in many places.
