Hi folks! It's been a while since I sent out a news message to report what's going on at CASI Headquarters, my house in Central PA and what's going on with CASI in general so I thought I'd do that tonight. I've received a good number of Member Page Updates and I'm working on those this week. Last week we had a HUGE influx of CASI Applications after my posting to the newsgroups about the StormForm - 10 applications in the same day! CASI Members now number *187* weather observers in the world, with the biggest concentration in North Carolina. What's up here at HQ? Well not a whole lot - I'm enjoying the new weather station and using the WX-200 as a backup. Been having trouble with the lightning detector... it's the stormwise "tube" detector which came pre-integrated into the weather station. What's happening is after the count records a couple of close strikes it bottoms out at zero and refuses to record any more until the next event. I'm thinking that the station may not be grounded well enough as I have the copper rod "in" the ground but not very far "underground." So time to borrow a sledgehammer from someone at work and see if that helps. Other than that, I've had one little tiny storm thus far this season and am beginning to wonder IF there is a severe season in Central PA. (It's worth noting that BOTH times I visited up here last year, May 19th, and July 16th(?) there were Severe Thunderstorm Warnings in effect for this county so it's got to come sometime).
