A quick theory for you...

We know that inside the jetstream there are 'jetlets'; thus if an =
average jetstream is a couple hundred miles
in diameter, a jetlet max of only 50 miles may peak substantially over =
the rest of the stream [150kts]. We
also know from airliner reports that the 'true max' inside a jetlet may =
get down to a matter of yards..

We also know from Nexrad reports that the eyewall of a hurricane may =
feature mini-maxes within a=20
very small [meso scale] range that features dramatically higher peaks =
than the mean peaks inside
the eyewall.. We also know there are meso cyclones inside the eyewall as =
well.

Thus the theory: there are micro cyclones [in scale of 5-10 feet, maybe =
smaller] in and around the
vicinity of larger tornadoes. We know that clusters of cyclones can form =
with multiple vortexes.. But
I am talking something below that which radar would normally pick up on =
and perhaps to small to
pick up with the naked eye.. Besides when an F1 - F2 are around, not too =
many naked eyes are
available close enough to the source to confirm..=20

Just a thought!
