Walnut Cove, NC : Member Dennis Meredith
O.K. ...at 7:00 PM EST in the booming metropolis of Walnut Cove, NC we
have 30 degrees and a little more than 7 inches of snow on the ground.
Although the big stuff is long gone, we are still having intermittent
SHSN, and this should continue through the night, judging from the radar
imagery.
Interesting storm...really cranked up along the coast...pressure reached
29.43" at GSO this afternoon.

On Land:
Seeing a few more NE's than last time. PVD now NE at 17 mph. Highest
winds still on Block Island
Block Island: East 28mph, gust to 38
Gusts to 32 (E) on Nantucket and in Falmouth.
Martha's Vineyard now gusting 29 from the East.
Highest gust in CT is New Haven, NE at 28.
Interesting note: winds are due North in both Hartford and Bradley
Int'l Airport, NE elsewhere in CT, except East in Groton.
Oly seeing SE winds (or any southerly component winds) in Maine lately,
and those are dropping off. All are mainly NE, with a few exceptions,
but SE is only reported in Bangor, ME.
Mount Washington has South winds at 26 mph.
New York City reports NE winds of 30mph, gusting to 37.
Albany has light snow and a northerly wind.
Lost our due northerlies in Mass.
Other Note: Worcester, MA reports 33 degrees under cloudy skies. Winds
there are Northeast (not south!) at 12, gusting to 21... Northeast
winds have in the past caused rain along the coast, but Worcester almost
always gets snow...
Should be intersteing to watch the pressure drop here in Cranston, as
well as keep an eye on those Buoys (all obs are 1 hr old), as well as
BI's winds, and certainly Worcester's temp and future precip!!!!!
