>From NWSFO Taunton's sfd:

Lr: this pattern conts highly energetic and while bitter cold occurs N y

eve then mild wknd, serious cold
fm siberia is finally leaking into Canada. Day 6 ec has 8h to abt -40 in

hud Bay W high pres fm yukon
to quebec. So while the enso pattern attempts to return W trofs on both
srn corners of the conus and
wk 5h rdg in the midwest dvlps, we could start producing wintry pcpn
again here next wk bcs of the
cold high tending to build to the N keeping cold low lvl air jammed in
here, better than most of this
winter season. The stg high to the N has been one ingredient missing
much of this early winter season.
Maybe it will become more predominant now that the siberian cold has
entered Canada. Still would like
to see some blocking in greenland to get bliz of 78 scenario. Sst
anomalies/climo research relationsship
suggests that hi lvl blocking should migrate for a time to greenland.
When and it it does, we should be
better able to dvlp a powerful winter storm here..

We have had 2 successive storms run a tad inside Boston, but both of
these had a tendency to run a bit
to the right of the short term models and with no sfc hi to the N, did
ok for wintry pcpn.

What a night and morning! Updated casi.homesite.net

I feel somewhat merged with my website now; I've updated it with some
data
I obtained late last evening plus from this afternoon. This includes
model
comparisons and the actual init from the NGM from last night and this
morning.

I've added all the CASI summaries from J sent since last night and this
morning.

Data [in map form] that I would like to see that I do not have...

Convective/stability index's [Capes, Helicity, K-Ind, Lifted] from last
night
and this morning [I have the lifted from the NGM 4 panel].

>>>I have a lot of stuff but haven't had a chance to go through it yet.,
will try to this weekend. Mike, try
http://hail.met.psu.edu/comet/automet2/automet2.html for last 24 hours
of CAPE etc.

also would be
curious to see better detailed upper level maps for 500/300mb. anyone
have
custom DPVA/PIVA maps for this event?

Walter Drag [the king of snow bunnies] :) Is looking at a potential
Greenland Block developing with more favorable conditons for major
winter storms in our neck of the woods.. The latest 5 day from NCEP
implies that trend for next week...could be interesting.
