Unexpected heavy snow fell over the North Carolina mountains today.
Light unexpected snow is currently falling here in Central PA.

5" of snow had fallen in Beech Mountain as of 9am and reports of over
20" at higher elevations had come in by this evening. 3-4" was reported
at Banner Elk at 7:30 am by Member Anthony Merrell. My parents in
Boomer, NC reported a total of 3" this afternoon before it changed back
to rain. Member Dennis Meredith reported high winds and quickly falling
pressure in the NW Piedmont this afternoon.

Next, I just found these graphics at UNCC while looking for something
else... I wanted to make sure that the Carolina Members were aware of
them. They feature mesoscale analysis (Western NC and Upper SC) of
current condtions including pressure, wind field, 12 and 24 hour precip,
and other variables.
