NWS Taunton seems to be picking up on the eastward movement of this
storm, and is probably going nuts right now adjusting forecasts for
freezing precip. VERY Interesting storm, and do I dare say humorous?
This storm has been toying with out minds for the past week, and is
throwing a curve ball at some of us at the end! I'm sure there will be
a lot of "I told you so" messages over the next few days, if not hours!
On Land...
Looks like Block Island continues to hold highest gusts, now East at 24,
gusting 41.
Although NYC has Thunderstorm in progress, and NE winds of 28mph,
gusting 40.
Groton, CT has East winds of 22mph, gusting to 35.
Newport, RI has East winds of 26mph, gusting to 32.
Gusts to 36 from the East on both Nantucket and the Vineyard.
Falmouth has NE winds gusting to 35 mph.
Chatham is NE gusting to 30.
Worcester is now at freezing point!!! Under Cloudy Skies, 32 degrees,
NE wind 15mph.
Fitchbrg, MA is 34 degrees, with due North winds at 7mph.
Albany is reporting Light Snow.
I just hope this storm slows down a bit. Let's keep the winds East on
the Bay for high tide tomorrow.
Haven't gotten any reports of coastal flooding in RI, although Jamestown
Harbour comes to mind as a potential weak spot. Winds have been highest
on BI, which is basically a big cliff sticking out of the water, so
they're OK. Heard reports of +3ft above normal tides in the New York
area. Tides are (astronomically) on the wane for now. If this thing
stalls, and keeps an Easterly through tomorrow morning, then there'll be
some trouble. Doubt tides on East facing shores will be lowering much
tonight with the stiff winds.
A very intersting storm indeed!!
