Storm97 is excited to announce its first guest chat of the season this
Wednesday with Dr. Robert Sheets, former director of the National
Hurricane Center.
Dr. Sheets, who has been involved in hurricane research and education
since 1965, will answer questions from Storm97 chatters June 25 at 12:30
p.m. EST.
Dr. Sheets is a regular contributor to Storm97, and you can read
his latest column about evacuation and shelter issues at
http://www.storm97.com/sheets/index.html
Also, we have installed a new chat program this week that you may want
to get acquainted with. The program is easy to use, but we want you to be
comfortable with it. You can try the new chat at

We know there hasn't been much in the way of Atlantic storms lately, but
we have been adding new articles, graphics and resources to the site
daily.
Some of the new features in just the past week include:
-- A look back at Hurricane Agnes on her 25th annivesary with stories,
intriguing facts and photos. Agnes ripped through 11 states in 1972
killing 117 people and causing more than $3 billion in damage.

-- A cool Shockwave animated graphic of how a storm surge happens.

-- What sensible measures small businesses should take to make sure they
don't lose everything if a hurricane hits.

-- Hurricane preparedness audio tips in English and Spanish courtesy of
the
Federal Emergency Management Agency.

We hope you're enjoying Storm97 so far this season. Gather your
