Greetings storm chasers:
Well, as I expected, ERIKA decided to take a journey northward. I did
run into an unexpected event while there though....Friday morning at
approximately 08:45 hrs, I was taking a drive down ocean blvd in north
myrtle beach and I noticed that a storm cloud was starting to build.
Something just told me that this could produce a funnel. I followed the
storm for a while and then decided to take it in for the morning. Rain
was starting to fall heavily and the updraft regions looked pretty
violent. Not more than one hour after I had gotten back to my room and
turned on the TV, when I saw a news flash come on. A water spout had
just made land fall and damaged several vehicles and windows just below
where I had gotten that "storm chaser" tingle in my brain!! Also, a
lifeguard was injured by the storm as it picked him up and moved him a
ways. He received only minor injuries to a few muscles.
Well, that is two water spouts or in this case, a twister, that I have
been in within one year in the same location during the fall months,.....
myrtle beach! I guess that you never can tell what you will run up on!!
Otherwise, no other news at the moment.
Keep a watch out for those hurricanes, as the season isn't over yet!!
Take care
