Hi folks.

I wanted to delay this message until I had up the report and video
captures from my travels Monday night through the storms but the home
page design is taking longer than I anticipated and time is short, so
I'll just say this: it will be up sometime this week. Already up is the
text report from the NC Storm Chasers. For both please see the website
at http://www.weatherwatchers.org/recentwx.html

Monday and yesterday were certainly very exciting for all of us, with
the first real batch of severe weather this year tearing through the
Carolinas. If any of you have any reports that you want put up on the
web site -- pictures, video, text, whatever, from this round of severe
weather, contact me and we'll get it up there.

Other web site news:

Last week I put up a new page: "Carolina Weather Web" which has links to
TV stations' weather pages in the Carolina Area, as well as links to the
SE Cam page and links to pertinent NWS products. Sometime soon I hope
to have an interactive map of the Carolina area with links to get
current observations for all NWS, AWS, and other weather stations. For
the page see http://www.weatherwatchers.org/education/ncweb.html

I redid the Members page last week in table format to better organize
it. I tried to get everybody's information right, you may want to
check it out to make sure that it's still accurate (see
http://www.weatherwatchers.org/members/memberlist.html) If you have a
homepage and want it listed on the members page, contact me. If you
don't have a homepage, you should get one! It's a lot of fun, I'm sure
those who have pages would agree. Several services offer free personal
home pages, the most common one being GeoCities at
http://www.geocities.com/

I want to again thank Cliff Nelson for hosting our first gettogether
last week. It was quite fun and educational. I will put a summary and
video captures up this weekend. We mainly sat around and watched chase
videos ;) Best of luck to Cliff who will be going out West for his
yearly 2-week chase next month.

Welcome to new members: Diane Davis, Keith Pace, Mark Drakage, Dan
Salkovitz, Frank Noonan, Jodi Fitzhugh, Brody Clifton, Larry Wright,
Mike Askew, Larry J. Livingston. Reminder: See the latest new member
welcomes at http://www.weatherwatchers.org/news.html.

New members, feel free to send an e-mail to this list
(casilist{at}weatherwatchers.org) and introduce yourself, tell where you
are from and what you do. Other members who live near you will be glad
to know.

New reading materials: I recently purchased several books that are of
great interest to me and may be to you as well: The Microburst and The
DFW Microburst by Fujita, and Significant Tornadoes 1680-1995 by
Grazulis. All these books I read while in school and was lucky enough
to find them recently to purchase on the 'net. If you've never read any
of Fujita's Downburst work, you should take a look sometime. He is the
ultimate "investigator;" he can write a whole book about a downburst
episode using a couple of airport obs... amazing. As for "Significant
Tornadoes" by Grazulis, you may have seen it, it contains over 1400
pages describing all significant tornadoes during the last 300 years.
Excellent reference material.
