First I didn't have the list with me at work, then
our domain was down for some time today. Good old
UU.NET, NOT!

Subject: Hello from Chapel Hill

Greetings CASI members:

Things are looking up -- it's spring!

More than that, Jesse Ferrell has done us all a valuable service in
creating this avenue of communication. I just knew there had to be other
storm freaks around here. Thanks Jesse. (By the way, I admire your style in
putting your forecasts on the web, and I'll tune in regularly.)

> We should try to get together sometime soon for an informal meeting.
> Cliff, I believe that you suggested your house? When would be a good date?

I expect at least two storm addicts to visit me this Sunday afternoon
(April 6th). They aren't members yet but I will tell them about CASI. If
anyone else can come by, the more the merrier. I live in Chapel Hill at 64
Davie Circle; my phone number is 967-1785.

After that -- the weekend of the 19th and 20 of April would work fine, or
most any weekend until May 23rd (when I hope to blast off for the plains).
Just let me know you're coming. Jesse, can you coordinate a date?

Question for the group: does any chase video from the Carolinas exist? I
know that waterspouts have been taped on the coast. A number of years ago,
at least two people caught the Lake Norman tornado on home video, and last
year the Zebulon tornado was captured by spotters. But I've never heard of
a tornado video from a *chaser* operating in this state. Anyone else?

Looks like tomorrow might be an interesting day in tornado alley. I can
hardly wait to get home from work tomorrow evening and tune in to The
Weather Channel for all the radar action. I suppose that's about the
geekiest thing one could say under normal circumstances, but I trust
present company will understand. :)

Yours in hope for the budding season,

Cliff Nelson
