Yet another near record dry month into the books. Throw in the fact that there
was a record 90 degree streak, a new monthly high mean temperature, and a
cricket infestation and it all adds up to fun. The grass has long since went
dormant leaving a brown hard ground covered with crickets, the crops are stressed,
and I lost two young trees and the other trees are beginning to drop their
leaves. The last nine weeks have been the driest stretch in these here hills
since the 'Dust Bowl of 1998' when only 4.31 inches or rain fell between August
27, 1998 to January 1, 1999. Such is life. Until later....................
