Thursday and Friday brought heavy rain to parts of eastern China
as well many areas of the Korean Peninsula and southern Japan. In
southeastern China's province of Guangdong, for example, rainfall was
6.0 inches within 24 hours ended early Friday morning, local time, in
Fogang. Hamhung, North Korea, meantime, was soaked by 7.2 inches of
rain within 24 hours as of Friday evening. Southern Japan had
rainfalls of 6.7 inches at Shiono Misaki, southernmost Honshu, and
4.9 inches in Kagoshima, Kyushu.
and Thailand was especially hot. In Prachin Buri, 106 degrees was
registered with this mark being about 10 degrees above average. In
Bangkok, the national capital, the high was 100 degrees, but taking
into account the heightened humidity, strong sunshine and other
atmospheric factors, it felt as hot as 133 degrees.

tally was slightly above the average rainfall for all of May here.
