        World Weather Summary
Updated: May 2, 2005 12:07 a.m.
Parts of southeastern Mexico sweltered with high heat on Sunday.
At Villahermosa, the high of 110 degrees was more than 20 degrees
above average.

Last month was the wettest April on record in San Juan, Puerto
Rico. Downpours on the 30th lifted the monthly tally to 15.00 inches.
The former rainfall record for April, which was broken on the 21st,
was 10.37 inches in 1988. For perspective, the average rainfall for
April is 3.71 inches.

Monday was even colder than usual at Russia's Vostok base on the
ice cap of East Antarctica. The high of -95 degrees was a full 20
degrees below average for early May and even about 7 degrees under
the average low.

Sunday and Sunday night were unseasonably cold in southern
central Canada. On Sunday, for example, parts of western Ontario and
Manitoba stayed below freezing. Winnipeg, Manitoba, could only muster
33 degrees for a high whereas an average day at the start of May
would reach 59. Early Monday morning, the temperature dipped to 11
degrees in Regina, Saskatchewan; this mark was 20 degrees below
average and only 3 degrees over the record low for the date.

Monday afternoon, local time, Bangkok, Thailand, suffered through
oppressive heat and humidity. At its highest, the AccuWeather RealFeel
Temperature(tm), an index describing how the weather truly feels, was
130 degrees.

Soaking rains pounded far southwestern Australia Sunday to Monday.
At Mandurah, for example, rainfall was 5.5 inches as of Monday
evening, local time; this exceeded the 5.1-inch average rainfall for
all of May. Dwellingup was hit by 4.4 inches of rain.
