[STORMREPORTS] Colorado Blizzard 2005
Greetings,
Well the Blizzard Of '05 is just about over in Colorado. Officially at my station at Elizabeth, (30 miles SE of Denver), I received a storm total of 14.4 inches of snow. The moisture content melted down to 2.88 of much-needed precipitation. I wouldn't call this storm a "drought-buster", but it helps.
There were some damaging winds with this storm. I recorded a peak gust of 54 mph yesterday morning and the winds are still coming out of the NNW at 21 mph. Drifts were measured close to 3 feet in places. Denver International Airport is getting back to normal operations this morning after being closed most of yesterday. Many highways in eastern Colorado were closed yesterday due to white-out conditions.
We say goodbye to a storm system that dumped over a foot of snow on most of eastern Colorado, and caused tornadoes from Texas to Kansas. What a wallop to wrap up the 2005 snow season, (maybe).
