Powerful, compact Tropical Cyclone Ingrid is skirting the
tropical `top end` of Australia. Late Friday afternoon, EST, the eye
of Ingrid is crossing the southern Wessel Islands, Northern Territory;
it is drifting westwards at 12 mph with highest sustained winds of 140
mph. Ingrid is forecast to take a path that would strike islands off
Arnhem Land, Northern Territory, for the next one to two days. Ingrid
could also make a landfall over the mainland.

Tropical Cyclone Willy is big, strong storm over the eastern South
Indian Ocean. Late Friday afternoon, EST, the core of Willy is about
355 miles northwest of Learmonth, Western Australia. Rolling towards
the south-southwest at 7 mph, Willy owns highest sustained winds of
105 mph. Willy is forecast to churn the open Indian Ocean off
northwestern Australia for at least the next three days.

As of early Saturday morning, local time, 9.0 inches of rain had
inundated Cairns, Queensland, Australia, within about 12 hours.

Unusual warmth has held stubbornly over western Canada through the
first ten days of the month. It has been warmest along the foot of
the Rocky Mountains in British Columbia and Alberta; at Fort Saint John,
BC, the first ten days of March were an average of 26 degrees higher
than usual. What is more, the warmth spanned the full range of
geography from the open plains of Saskatchewan to the inter mountain
of BC to the Pacific edge at Vancouver, where Thursday`s high of 60
degrees was a record high for the date. Friday, Calgary, AB, set a
record high for the date with a 68-degree reading.

Beginning Thursday, heavy rains have washed much of the Zagros
Mountains of Iran and neighboring Iraq. At Ilam, Iran, rainfall thus
far was 4.6 inches as of Friday afternoon, local time.

A cold front instigated locally heavy rain in northern Honduras
Thursday. The city of La Ceiba, for instance, was pelted by 5.7 inches
of rain within a little more than twelve hours.

Sondrestromfjord, southwestern Greenland, was about 40 degrees
warmer than average in reaching 47 degrees on Friday. In far southern
Greenland, Narsarsuaq rose to 58 degrees, or about 30 degrees above
average.

Friday dawned frigid in a small part of northwestern Europe. In
Finland, early morning lows were -21, -18 and -18 degrees,
respectively, in Kajaani, Jyvaskyla and Mikkeli; each of these marks
were a full 35 degrees below average. In nearby far northwestern
Russia, Lovozero was more than 30 degrees below average in dropping to
