"A welding worker was hospitalized Thursday morning after a concrete-block
wall fell in high winds at a construction site on Concord Mills Boulevard.

When the wall gave in, the scaffold pushed the man outward, so the wall
didn't fall on him -- likely sparing him further injuries, according to
Norman Franklin, public information officer for Concord Fire and Life Safety.

The welding company had been working to shore up the wall with steel beams,
Franklin said. Winds were blowing around 30 to 35 mph when the accident
happened around 9:50 a.m."
