A moderate tropical cyclone is drifting over the Arabian Sea. Late
Friday afternoon, EST, the un-named cyclone is located about 685 miles
southwest of Mumbai (Bombay), India, and 655 miles east-southeast of
Salalah, Oman. With highest sustained winds of 40 mph, the storm is
drifting towards the west-northwest at 4-5 mph. A mostly westward
drift is foreseen for this cyclone for the next two days.

Stormy, unsettled weather befitting spring-time began at mid week
over the near-south of South America. Focus was upon the plains of
Argentina and Paraguay. One aspect was the wide swings in temperature
beginning with a heat wave that saw temperatures to 110 degrees. Later,
the heat was broken, sometimes abruptly, by a strong cold front. Take
Cordoba, Argentina, where a high of 104 degrees on Tuesday was 25
degrees above average. In the lee of the cold front, Thursday's high
was only 65 degrees. Thunderstorms triggered by the clash of
air masses poured 5.7 inches of rain over Corrientes, and 5.1 inches
over Posadas, both of which are in Argentina.

Bitterly-cold, high winds lashed northeastern Greenland Friday.
At Kroyers Holme, temperatures hovered below -10 degrees as winds
blew 50 to 60 mph. The wind chill was about 50 degrees below zero.
Still farther north, the temperature at Nord dipped at least 36 degrees
below zero.

Early Friday, winds gusting to 60 mph raked Narssarssuaq in far-
southern Greenland. Additionally, the high winds pushed the
temperature to 53 degrees, or more than 20 degrees above November's
average daily high.

At Infanta, Philippines, rainfall since Wednesday was 8.3 inches
by Friday evening, local time.

A big tropical wave unsettled the weather this mid and late week
over the western Caribbean Sea and some lands of Central America. In
Belize, for instance, heavy showers and thunderstorms left rainfall of
5.1 inches within 42 hours as of midafternoon Friday at the
international airport outside Belize City. Puerto Lempira,
northeastern Honduras, was doused by 4.2 inches of rain within 48
hours ended Thursday evening.

Torrential downpours hit parts of the Greek island Crete late
Thursday to Friday, local time. In the west, Souda was soaked by 4.3
inches of rain within 24 hours. This is more than November's mean
rainfall which is about 3.8 inches.
