Argentina. Highs above 100 degrees were the rule over the plains of
the northwest, which include the Chaco and the northern Cuyo. Along
the northwestern rim of the fertile Pampas, Cordoba topped out 104
degrees, or 25 degrees above the daily average high. It was at least
as hot as 109 degrees, as this was the high at Catamarca on the
northernmost Cuyo. Overnight, meantime, thunderstorms triggered in
part by the hot outbreak swept over eastern Argentina and
neighboring Uruguay. Gusts rose to 50 mph at Rosario, Argentina.
Wednesday, Las Lomitas spiked to 108 degrees by midafternoon.

city fell to 25 degrees and a low of 22 was registered at Tepehuanes.
Sombrerete, Zacatecas, was as low as 27 degrees.
