July 2, 2004 4:59 p.m.

Tropical Storm Mindulle is making its way over the East China Sea
after buffeting and inundating Taiwan. Late Friday afternoon, EDT,
Mindulle is centered 120 miles to the northeast of Taipei. Having
first shed much of its strength to the highlands of Luzon,
Philippines, and then being stifled by Taiwan's rugged bulwark,
Mindulle now holds maximum sustained winds of about 45 mph. The
storm's north-northeasterly motion has increased to 13 mph. Mindulle
is forecast to continue to pick up speed while turning more towards
the northeast. A likely landfall for Mindulle would be over southern
Korea by the end of the weekend.

Tropical Storm Tingting is over the open North Pacific Ocean, and
it is heading away from land. Late Friday afternoon, EDT, Tingting is
located 515 miles east-southeast of Tokyo, Japan. Owning highest
steady winds of 55 to 60 mph, Tingting is bearing towards the
northeast at 10 mph. Keeping to its northeasterly path for the next
few days, Tingting is forecast to slowly fade over the wide-open
Pacific Ocean.

Friday brought an end to the torrential rains that Typhoon
Mindulle unloaded over northwestern Philippines. Over the highlands of
western Luzon, the city of Baguio picked up more than 42 inches of
rain within little more than three days. Along the sea, Laoag
registered about two feet of rain within 60 hours.

Thursday, Choix, Sinaloa, Mexico, hit 111 degrees after reaching
108 degrees on Wednesday.

Friday, Hanoi, Vietnam, suffered through suffocating heat and
humidity. With strong sunshine and little wind, temperatures soared to
98 degrees with dew points in the lower to middle 80s. These factors
yielded a top AccuWeather RealFeel Temperature (tm) of 133 degrees in
this capital city.

Southern South America has been rather stormy of late, and parts
of the region were belted by strong winds, rain and snow on Friday. In
Argentina, Puerto San Julian awoke with winds howling 55-60 mph,
temperatures near freezing, snow falling and an inch of snow on the
ground. It felt as cold as 9 degrees as indicated by the AccuWeather
RealFeel Temperature (tm) at this city near the Atlantic coast.

A new tropical depression, the second of the season, is drifting
over the eastern North Pacific Ocean southwest of Mexico. Late Friday
afternoon, EDT, the depression is centered about 800 miles southwest
of Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, Mexico, where it holds top
sustained winds a little shy of 30 mph. The depression is moving
towards the west-northwest at 9 mph. This depression is forecast to
head westward on an open-water path for the next 24-36 hours. By the
end of the weekend, it may dissipate.
