At the time, I was in the coliseum at Texas Christian University for
During the ceremony, I received phone calls from my sister-in-law
Everyone in the coliseum seemed to be getting weather reports from
Power did go out but there appear to have been generators for backup.
About an hour after the ceremony, we could finally leave. First thing
I did lose about 1/2 of each of two trees and my back fence. I don't
Forecast is for more of the same later today (perhaps tonight...)
And an interesting night was had by all...

my nephew's graduation ceremony so I did not get much visual on this
storm. When we left the coliseum, the aftermath was rather exciting.
telling us about 80mph straight-line winds and tornado warnings in the
immediate area. Just as the ceremony was ending, we could hear the
hail begin hitting the coliseum roof and the exterior doors began
moving "on their own" due to wind. (There was also a severe leak
over the scoreboard in the middle of the coliseum). People were not in
a hurry to leave...
friends and neighbors on their phones... Many of those reports were
(of course) conflicting.
Our group migrated to a location out of any traffic areas in case the
power went completely out. I was considering what might result if
winds/tornado actually damaged the structure of the building... Not
much "safe area" in a building like that (very old building...)
we noticed was the large lack of street lights and traffic lights as
well as pieces of tree in the roads. Most neighborhoods in the area
were without power and many remain without power this morning.
Thankfully, we have power at my house even though I live within 6
blocks of the TCU campus (southside).
think there is any damage to the house. Wednesday is trash pick-up day
so everyone's trash is strewn about the area.
