Somerset County (near bakersville) to check out damage that
happened during severe thunderstorms that occurred early this
morning.
damage in that area was due to downburst (straight-line) winds.
trees pushed into it...causing Major structural damage to the
home...as well as numerous other trees felled or broken all along
route 31 from Bakersville to Lavansville. The damage occurred at
651 am EDT according to eyewitnesses.
around the Seven Springs resort area. Our survey team found F1
downburst damage...consisting of hundreds of trees down and minor
damage to rooftops. A fence around a tennis court was blown down as
well. Peak winds were estimated based on structural damage at around
80 mph around Seven Springs.
