QUOTES:

"FARGO, N.D. - National Weather Service teams are surveying the damage
caused by tornadoes that hit eastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota.

We're calling it a tornado outbreak, since we had at least 12 touchdowns
and probably more when we put it all together," Kellenbenz said.

Twisters that hit the Pembina County town of Leroy, and Humboldt, in
Minnesota's Kittson County, were rated at category F-2 on the Fujita scale
used to measure tornado strength.

The strength of the tornadoes was unusual - North Dakota saw no F-2
tornadoes last year, Kellenbenz said.

Three mobile homes and a shop were damaged in Leroy, a town of about 30
people. The tornado there was about 150 feet wide and had winds between 120
and 140 mph, Kellenbenz said. It was on the ground for about two minutes
and traveled about a mile.

The Humboldt tornado had wind speeds of up to 155 mph and covered more than
a mile in about four minutes, Kellenbenz said. Buildings and equipment
stored at an unoccupied farmstead south of town were destroyed, and grain
bins in the area were damaged."
