"AHMEDABAD/RAJKOT/SURAT: The cyclonic storm, advancing towards the Gujarat
coast, has weakened. However, rains lashed coastal areas from Sunday night,
leaving five dead.

"The system has weakened. It was stationed 150 km south of Veraval on
Monday evening," said RK Kankane, director of the Gujarat unit of Indian
Meteorological Department (IMD)."

"Ahmedabad, May 10 A cyclone having a wind-speed of 60-70 kms per hour is
expected to hit the Gujarat coast tonight even as reports of damage to
several houses along the coastal regions of the state due to high winds
have been received, official sources said today."

"Indian authorities Monday warned fishermen to stay out of the Arabian Sea
near Gujarat for the next day as a cyclone moved north after killing three
people on the subcontinent's southern tip.

The cyclone was moving at 60 to 80 kilometres (37 to 50 miles) per hour and
was due to hit Gujarat by late Monday, said R.K. Kankane, director of
Indian Meteorological Department in the western state.

The government of India's southernmost state of Kerala said Friday the
storm killed three people and left up to 2,000 villagers homeless."
