Blizzard snarls Cambay water service
WebPosted Apr 13 2004 05:51 PM CDT
"CAMBRIDGE BAY, Nunavut - Many residents of Cambridge Bay were without
water Tuesday after a blizzard ground the hamlet's water delivery service
to a halt.
McCallum says road crews should be able to clear the path to the lake
before the next blizzard hits
The mayor of Cambridge Bay says the hamlet has been unable to deliver water
since Sunday.
Terry McCallum says the Easter-weekend blizzard built up snow drifts that
are blocking the road leading to the lake where the community gets its
drinking water.
McCallum says the snow removal crew is clearing the way for the water trucks.
He says there is enough water in the community for fire protection, and he
hoped the trucks could start delivering water later Tuesday afternoon.
However, another blizzard was forecast to hit Cambridge Bay in a few hours."
