"ALONG(Arunachal Pradesh), MAR 31(NEPS): An unprecedented cyclone that
swept Kamba Circle of West Siang District on March 27 last at around 1930
Hrs has created havoc and untold miseries to the inhabitants of Dego Kamki,
including Collegians, Lecturers and Villagers, according to a delay
official release here today.
Interestingly the cyclone was confined to a limited area, which included
Dego Kamki medical complex and few areas of Karga village. The hailstorm
and torrential rain that occurred on that fateful day added woes for
collegians as books, bedding and clothing which were blown away got damaged
completely in the rain. At Dego Kamki around five well-built dwelling
houses were damaged, 33 granaries were destroyed, 4 rice mill houses were
defaced, 2 video halls were damaged, 6 shop buildings were devastated and 4
rented hostels were blown down. The roofs of the private school at Kamki
were destroyed. Though there is no report of de ath and serious physical
injuries, huge properties are reported to be damaged in the cyclone. The
electric posts are completely damaged and restoration works are likely to
take a longer time. About 10 hectares of Forest Plantation and 6 hectares
of Banana Plantations are completely destroyed.
The nature and intensity of the cyclone was so high that even angled posts
were uprooted and bamboo grooves were also either uprooted or squeezed. The
CGI sheets of the house buildings blown away in the cyclone are
untraceable. Meanwhile, the District Administration geared up all possible
measures to restore normalcy."
