‘It’s the worst we’ve seen since 1988’

Tom Kennedy already knows how he’ll spend his weekend: hauling buckets of
sand from his basement.
Although water is receding, the work is just beginning for families with
flooded yards, garages and homes. Cleaning up after this flood might be
more of a task than others. Some residents said the water was higher than
in recent floods.
“It’s the worst we’ve seen since 1988,” said Tony Shepherd, who owns two
businesses on Old Oxford State Road — in Lemon Township, just west of
Middletown — where water remained about a foot high in some yards Tuesday
afternoon.
