Tuesday was unseasonably hot in a small part of western Mexico.
In the far north of the state of Sinaloa, the town of Choix soared to
102 degrees whereas a high in the lower 80s would be appropriate in
early December.
Soaking rains have hit Indonesia's Anambas Islands in the South
China Sea in recent days. On the island of Siantan, three-day rainfall
ended Wednesday morning, local time, was 9.8 inches at Terempa.
A fearsome blizzard packing winds of hurricane strength rocked the
far-northwest of Canada early Wednesday. At aptly-named Storm Hills
in Northwest Territories, screaming winds of 65-75 mph at more than 10
degrees below zero were clocked. Sustained winds above 50 mph racked
Komakuk Beach and Shingle Point, both in Yukon Territory, all at
temperatures below zero.
Rain-weary northern Honduras has been hit anew with torrential
rains. La Ceiba, where rainfall was about two feet late last week,
had more than six additional inches of rain within 36 hours ended
Wednesday morning.
Heavy rains off the Mediterranean Sea lingered into early
Wednesday over Europe south and west of the Alps. Rainfall rose to
between eight and nine inches at Montelimar, France. Serious flooding
resulted from the rains in France.
