RE: [STORMREPORTS] Isabel Report from Central PA

From: Shapiro, David (shapiro{at}lvc.edu)

I'm down here in Palmyra PA, about a few hours south of State College, just 2
min's east of Hershey. Wind has picked up and power is going on and off as
well as some long surges and brown-outs. The trees are starting to move in
the 30-40 MPH range and the rain is starting to come down more evenly now. I
grew up on the Jersey coast(toms river) and remember Gloria in '85 and Floyd
in '99 very well but this one might give PA a good look!

Hope you all do well!

Rain and wind have started here in State College, PA, however light.
Most
schools in the area are closed tomorrow as are some businesses. I
just
finished clearing my yard of potential projectiles and tied some
things
down. You can watch the weather at WeatherMatrix HQ here on the web:

Providing the power does not go out. I am concerned that many power
outages will occur due to moist ground, leaves on trees and the wind
coming
from a strange direction. We get winds at 50-60 mph several times
per
winter but never from the south and never when the trees are ripe
with leaves.

Even though the storm is far away, my pressure has fallen 0.30" since
this
morning. The map of pressure in the Northeast from PSU is very
impressive
        tonight:

And winds are strong in the mid-Atlantic:
