Those storms you guys got made it all the way to
eastern Long Island this evening and set a new record.
1/3" diameter hail was observed for 1 to 2 minutes,
making this year a new record for severe weather.
Today was the 4th severe storm of the year and the
third one with hail. Before this year hail had not
been seen here in Baiting Hollow in at least 9years!
Todays supercell brought winds up to 24mph. and
rainfall rates over 4"/hr. causing 1" to 4" flash
floods in parts of the Tanger Mall parking lot and
elsewhere just south of here within a matter of
minutes. The temperature also plummited from 82º to
72º in less than a minutes time.
