"Lightning that struck at or around Otis Mason Elementary School knocked
out the school's phone system early Friday afternoon, said Superintendent
Joseph Joyner.

"There were quite a few cloud-to-ground lightning strikes during the
storm," said National Weather Service forecaster Phil Peterson."
