"A fast-moving thunderstorm caused havoc as it rolled through Denver Friday
evening, flooding streets and bombarding at least one intersection with
golf-ball- sized hail.

"In a 30-minute span, we had 70 calls, ranging from water rescue to
lightning strikes," said Lt. Leroy Anderson, of the Denver Fire Department.
"We were buried so bad."

Although the storm spawned no tornadoes, high winds toppled a tree into a
house at 41st Avenue and King Street. No one was injured.

A number of lightning strikes were reported as well, but only one caused
damage. It burned a hole in the roof of a home in the 3700 block of Downing
Street."
