"KAMLOOPS, B.C. Lightning has started 200 more fires across British
Columbia, an official said this morning.

"Since midnight it was a little over 1,700 strikes," said Steve Bachop,
fire information officer with the B.C. Forest Service. "We're going to have
some lightning fires that are popping up today."

Lightning accompanied thunderstorms that brought a little bit of rain to
the parched province, welcome especially in the Kamloops area, where crews
are fighting three major fires that at the peak displaced 10,000 people."
