Hidi-ho good neighbors. Greetings from the mushroom and slug infested high
desert of the Mid Atlantic. Ask and ye shall receive.......but don't forget to
say 'when'. Record rainfall and near record cold for my homestead in the hills.
After coming out of a four year drought I am not sure what to do with all
this rain. Here is a list of records and near records.

Today (June 2) it will not rain. That breaks a Seattle like streak of 13
consecutive days of rainfall. The record is 17 such days set on June 1 - 17, 1998.

May 2003 had 25 days with rainfall. That is a new record surpassing 24 such
days set in June 1998.

May 2003 was the wettest May on record.

3. 6.93 - 1996
4. 6.76 - 1988
5. 6.56 - 1998

May 2003 was the fourth wettest month overall on record.
Top Five Monthly Precips
1. 12.92 - June 1996
2. 11.20 - September 1996
3. 10.52 - September 1993
4. 10.27 - May 2003
5. 8.82 - December 1992

May 2003 was the third coldest May on record.
Bottom Five May Mean Temps
1. 56.8 - 1997
2. 59.8 - 1994
3. 60.0 - 2003
4. 60.6 - 1983, 1989, 1992
5. 60.8 - 1990

Meteorological spring 2003 (March - May) was the second wettest on record.
Top Five Spring Precips
1. 20.02 - 1993
2. 17.62 - 2003
3. 16.73 - 1994
4. 16.69 - 1998
5. 16.27 - 1996

It is hard to believe my station started out the year with precip 3 1/2 feet
below normal since the drought began in July 1998. I guess it is safe to say
the drought is over now. Until later.............
