"Tropical storm Linfa hit Japan's main island Saturday, flooding streets
and disrupting transportation.
The storm was recording winds of up to 52 mph as it passed through Okayama
prefecture (state) about 340 miles southwest of Tokyo, the Meteorological
Agency said.
Television news footage showed cars plowing through knee-deep water and a
gasoline pump submerged up to is nozzle in neighboring Hiroshima
prefecture, as heavy rains and strong winds pounded the region.
The agency warned of landslides, high waves and more rain as the storm made
its way in a northeasterly direction towards Japan's second-largest city,
Osaka. It was expected to near the capital by nightfall."
